Citrus × paradisi

Grapefruit is a large, tangy citrus fruit with pink, red, or white flesh and a tart, slightly bitter flavor. A breakfast staple across the Caribbean and the Americas, grapefruit is prized for its vitamin C content and refreshing juice. Important safety note: grapefruit can interact with many common medications including statins and blood pressure drugs. Always check with a healthcare provider if you take prescription medicines.
Cut in half and scoop out segments with a spoon, or peel and eat the segments. Popular in fresh juices, salads, and grilled. Add honey or sugar to balance tartness if desired.
Store at room temperature for 1 week, or refrigerate for 2-3 weeks. Juice can be refrigerated for 3 days.
Excellent source of vitamin C and vitamin A. One half grapefruit contains about 52 calories, 2g of fiber, and high levels of lycopene (in pink/red varieties).
