- •4 ripe mammee apples, peeled, seeded, and diced
- •1½ cups sugar
- •¼ cup water
- •Juice of 1 lime
- •1 cinnamon stick
- •Pinch of nutmeg
📝 Instructions
- 1Peel mammee apples and remove the large central seeds. Dice the orange flesh.
- 2Combine diced fruit, water, and cinnamon in a heavy pot. Simmer 15 minutes until soft.
- 3Add sugar, lime juice, and nutmeg. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring often, for 30–40 minutes until thick.
- 4Test for set by placing a spoonful on a cold plate — it should wrinkle when pushed.
- 5Ladle into sterilised jars and seal. Cool completely before storing.
